Born in Holland and relocating a few years later to California, Eddie and older brother Alex grew up in a musical household.  The two brothers eventually branched out of their classical training and into the rock scene; forming the band in Pasadena, California in 1978 and taking their name from the last names of the band's brothers, Eddie and Alex Van Halen.

The group quickly picked up fans, filling venues and by 2007, Van Halen was inducted into the RRHOF.

Eddie’s lightening speed guitar riffs coupled with his precise and distinct take of a “finger-tapping” technique had him on par with Hendrix, Clapton and Les Paul.
